Cleanrooms require seamless floor surfaces with no joints, so there is nowhere for bacteria and dust to harbour, surfaces that are easy to clean regularly, and low emissions during installation and use. This page presents the general solution framework; the cleanroom class of each specific project is determined by the requirements of the project owner and the technical dossier of the coating system when published.
Cleanroom-specific needs
- Seamless surfaces with no joints and nowhere for bacteria and dust to harbour.
- Easy to clean regularly, meeting the hygiene requirements of clean production areas.
- Low VOC content, low odour during installation in neighbouring areas that remain in operation.
Suitable coating systems
- LevelFlow — Self-leveling: seamless mirror-finish surface, 1–3 mm thickness selected according to load, easy to clean and meeting the aesthetic requirements of cleanrooms.
- AquaBase — Water-based, low VOC: water-based epoxy system, low odour during installation, low VOC content measured by the TCVN 10370 method, seamless surface that is easy to clean, suitable for areas with high hygiene requirements.
General process
- Site survey: area, concrete substrate condition, environmental conditions, expected traffic type and the time available for handover of the work area.
- Concrete substrate preparation: floor grinding, crack repair, moisture measurement — a mandatory step before coating, never shortened to meet a schedule.
- Primer application: improves adhesion and seals pores on the substrate surface, at the mixing ratio specified by the manufacturer.
- Topcoat application: intermediate coat and finishing topcoat according to the configuration of the selected system.
- Curing and acceptance: wait until the coating reaches the condition stated in the instructions, then inspect and hand over.
Substrate conditions before installation
- Concrete at least 28 days old, grade above 200.
- Floor moisture content below 6–8%.
- Ambient temperature 10–35°C and air humidity below 75–85% during installation.
Acceptance criteria
- Seamless surface, no peeling, bubbling or exposed substrate voids.
- Coating thickness matching the configuration of the selected system.
- Uniform colour; markings (if any) in the agreed positions.
- Handover cleaning and maintenance and cleaning guidance for the floor after installation.
